Freediving in the waters surrounding Lanta is an incredible
experience!
Freediving is easy and enjoyable once you learn how
to relax underwater.
Recreational freediving can mean snorkeling in shallow
water and making quick dives down, or it can mean making
deeper dives to see things you cant see as a recreational
scuba diver. The main disadvantage in freediving, of
course, is that your time on the bottom is limited.
Advantages to exploring the underwater world without
tanks:
Less equipment means you can go more places
No bubbles means you dont scare the fish
away
!
No regulator noise lets you hear other underwater
noises more easily
Your movement along the bottom is effortless
due to reduced drag
There are as many different reasons to enjoy freediving
as there are different people who enjoy it. Some enjoy
the sensation of weightlessness, sinking, and floating,
while others are more attracted to the performance-based
element of the sport.
